Q: How to Set Up LTK Server Files? (Windows)

LTK for Windows runs on all latest Windows version (XP to Win 10) 32 and 64 bit.

SET UP LTK SERVER FILES

1. Create a shared folder on your server named LTKSHARE (you may already have a shared folder that you can use instead)

2. To install the LTK server files, copy the following files from the LTK For Schools Network Version to the LTKSHARE folder on your server:

SetupLtkServerFiles.msi

SetupLTKServerFiles.BAT

SetupLTK32.msi

SetupLtkSystemFiles.msi

SetupLTKPC.BAT

SetupLtkStudentPC32.exe

Then execute the SetupLTKServerFiles.BAT file to run the SetupLtkServerFiles.msi application on your LTK Server. This creates an LTK folder and other sub folders inside the LTKSHARE folder. It extracts approximately 9700 files.

Contents of the SetupLTKServerFiles.BAT file (assumes that the LTKSHARE folder is mapped to the LTK Server as Z:\).

Z:\SetupLtkServerFiles.msi ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1

After installing the LTK Server files (assume your shared folder named LTKSHARE is located on server hard drive D:\) your folder will appear as: D:\LTKSHARE\Ltk

3. Set folder permissions, allowing all users to have read/write/create capability to the Ltk\Db and Ltk\Backups folders (after the LTK Server files are installed).

Note that if attempt to setup the LTK Server on a Windows Starter or Windows Home PC, you will need to right-click on the SetupLTKServerFiles.BAT file and select Run as an administrator.

The SetupLtkServerFiles.msi installation program will display the following screen:

Set Up LTK – Language Tune-up Kit

Select the shared folder that will be mapped to each LTK Student PC (e.g. LTKSHARE, NOT LTKSHARE\Ltk).

The following screen shows installation progress as files are extracted to the LTKSHARE folder on your server:

Set Up LTK – Language Tune-up Kit

When complete, the following screen will appear:

Language Tune-up Kit - Set Up LTK

The next step is to install each LTK Student PC. This can be done in silent/unattended mode by running the SetupLTKPC.BAT file or, interactively by running the SetupLtkStudentPC32.exe program on each LTK Student PC.

The following pages show the installation steps to install LTK Student PCs.
